How Stable Are AI Business Software Recommendations? September–October 2026
A paired-snapshot study of recommendation stability across CRM, project management, and email marketing using 120 completed AI evaluations.
This paired-snapshot study compares 120 completed prompt-and-model evaluations and 587 observations across CRM, project management, and email marketing.
Supported findings
- 13 of 15 companies recommended in at least half of September evaluations remained at or above that threshold in October.
- Within the 15-company baseline leader cohort, 11 declined, 2 were unchanged, and 2 increased in recommendation share.
- Asana moved from 17/20 (85%) to 18/20 (90%) while Monday.com moved from 18/20 (90%) to 17/20 (85%), reversing their order by one evaluation.
- Mailchimp remained the email marketing leader at 19/20 (95%) after 20/20 (100%) in September; Klaviyo stayed at 18/20 (90%).
- Brevo had the largest decline in the defined 15-company baseline cohort, moving from 13/20 (65%) to 8/20 (40%), down 25 percentage points.

Methodology
Recommendation share equals unique completed prompt × canonical-provider evaluations with recommended=true for a resolved company, divided by 20 completed evaluations in that market snapshot.
A mention is a unique prompt × canonical-provider evaluation containing the resolved company regardless of recommended status.
Citation count is the number of citation records attached to that company observation; citations are reported separately and never counted as recommendations.
Limitations
- This compares two snapshots per market and does not establish a durable long-term trend or explain why a model changed.
- The three October snapshots were measured on different dates: CRM on October 9 and Project Management and Email Marketing on October 16, 2026 UTC.
- AI outputs can vary with model updates, retrieval behavior, source availability, system instructions, and prompt wording.
- The leader cohort is defined prospectively from September as companies recommended in at least 10 of 20 evaluations; conclusions depend on that threshold.
- Recommendation share is not commercial market share, customer adoption, product quality, or a PromptMarketMap endorsement.
- Mentions, citations, and recommendations are separate fields. Sparse citation records cannot be interpreted as evidence that a recommendation lacked external sources.
- All six named snapshots were re-fetched and row-level reconciled on October 21, 2026: coverage was complete, canonical hashes matched, and there were no duplicate prompt-provider evaluation keys or unresolved observations. Observation rows record gpt-5-mini for OpenAI and claude-sonnet-4-6 for Anthropic. At revalidation time, evaluation-level providerModel was null because of a provider-alias mismatch; RecommendationIndex commit 0985ef0 corrects that metadata mapping without changing the stored evidence.
